(Shkodër -) Bajzë HSH (- Han-i-Hotit HSH) - Tuzi ŽCG (- Podgorica)

[D] This line did not open until 1986 and the treaty concerning its construction limited it to freight use only. Traffic has been very erratic. It was closed in 1990 as part of UN sanctions on the then former Yugoslavia. It briefly re-opened in 1997 but soon after, during unrest in Albania, long sections of rail were stolen and smuggled out of the country for their scrap value. In early September 2001 the line at Podgorica appeared very rusty and was blocked by a line of stored wagons. The cross-border section was re-opened in 2002 and the link south of there to Shkodër was rebuilt by 2003 by using rails lifted from the Rubik to Rreshen branch. A new treaty was signed to re-open the line in 1997 (and again in 2002/3?). HSH works in odd years to Tuzi, ŽCG works in even years to Bajzë, as there is no border station on the Albanian side at Han-i-Hotit. Freight traffic takes place at irregular times, usually around noon.
