CFR operates two daily 1435&nbsp;mm gauge local train pairs between Iaşi and Ungheni. [D] The track between Prut-2 and Fălciu was dual 1435/1520 mm gauge, but in 2008 the 1435 mm gauge rails were reported as disused and cut in places. The passenger service on this route appears to have ceased as from the start of the 2009/2010 timetable period.

[D] A 1520mm gauge track for freight only runs from the Danube port at Galaţi (Romania) to the transhipment area of Giurgiulesty (Moldova) and continues to Reni (Ukraine).
[D] A 1520&nbsp;mm gauge freight-only line runs over the border from Giurgiuleşti (Moldova) to a steelworks west of Galaţi (Romania). A 1435&nbsp;mm gauge track was added between Galaţi and Giurgiuleşti in 2014, making the route dual gauge, the traffic being fuel tanks serving a transfer area adjacent to Giurgiuleşti station.<br />
With the reinstatement of 1520 mm gauge track within the port of Galati on 6 July 2022, the line can now be used to carry urgent grain exports from Ukraine directly into the port.
