All rail routes between this pair of countries are 1520mm gauge.

(Lipcani -) Criva CFM - Mamalyha UZ (- Chernivtsi)

[D] The local service between Ocniţa and Chernivitsi was withdrawn by August 2013, and an overnight train Chernivtsi <=> Kyiv only ran during summer 2014. The only remaining passenger service in September 2019 is a daily train pair between Chernivtsi and Sokyriany operated by Ukrainian Railways.

(Chernivtsi -) Lipcani CFM - border - border - Medveja CFM (- Larha)

[D] CFM operates to Mamalyha. The local service between Ocnita and Chernivitsi was withdrawn by August 2013. In summer 2014 the overnight train 117/118 Chernivtsi-Kyiv was introduced on this transit route through Moldova from Mamalyha to Larga.

Medveja CFM - Larha UZ

[D] CFM operates to Mamalyha. The local service between Ocnita and Chernivitsi was withdrawn by August 2013. In summer 2014 the night train 117/118 Chernivtsi-Kyiv was introduced on this transit route through Moldova from Mamalyha to Larga.

Ocniţa CFM - Sokyriany (Ukraine) - Larha UZ

[D] CFM operates to Larha.

(Ocniţa -) Vălcineţ CFM - Mohyliv-Podil’s’kyi UZ (- Zhmerynka)

[D] UZ operates to Ocniţa, although Moldovan border formalities are performed at Vălcineţ.

(Rybniţa -) Kolbasnaja CFM - Timkove UZ (- Slobidka)

[D] Freight only. CFM operates to Slobidka. Note that this line passes through Transdnistria between Rybniţa and Kolbasnaja.

(Tiraspol -) Novosavickaia CFM - Kuchurhan UZ (- Rozdil’na)

[E] CFM operates to Kuchurhan.

Note that Tiraspol is the "capital" of Transdniestria; passport checks and the police registration are carried out here at the station, and not in the train.

The CFM lines from (Ungheni -) Revaca and from (Căinari –) Căuşeni cross into Transdniestria at Tighina/Bender 2 and Tighina/Bender 1 respectively. Moldova does not recognise Tighina/Bender as a border and does not check trains terminating here. Trains 642SH/642SZ (Odessa <> Chişinău) run via this route through Transdniestria. Border checks on these trains are carried out at Bulboaca, one station west of Bender 2.

Owing to disagreements between Moldova and Transdniestria, local trains between Chişinău and Bender now use the new station of Bender-3, just on the Moldovan side of the de-facto border. Passengers to and from the town of Bender must travel on foot via the official road crossing.

(Căinari -) Iserlia CFM - Karabutseny (Ukraine) - 121 km (Ukraine) - Basarabeasca CFM

[D] CFM operates throughout between Căinari and Basarabeasca.

Basarabeasca CFM - Serpneve I UZ (- Berezyne - Artsyz)

[D] Closed to all traffic in 1997 and lifted in 1999. An agreement to reopen the line between Basarabeasca and Berezyne was signed in October 2015. The work was to be done in 2017 but has been postponed owing to lack of funding. This would have enabled traffic between the two countries to avoid passing through the breakaway territory of Transnistria.

(Basarabeasca - Taraclia -) 208 km CFM - border - Bolhrad (Ukraine) - border - Greceni CFM (- Etulia)

[D] One CFM local train pair runs daily between Basarabeasca and Etulia. This crossing is officially permitted only to local citizens, but normally other European nationals are tolerated. Succesful journeys from Reni to Basarabeasca have been reported.

(Basarabeasca -) Etulia CFM - Frykatsei UZ (- Reni)

[D] Two CFM local train pairs run daily between Etulia and Reni. This crossing is officially permitted only to local citizens, but normally other European nationals are tolerated. Succesful journeys from Reni to Basarabeasca have been reported.

(Galaţi (Romania) -) Giurgiuleşti CFM - Reni UZ

[D] A 1520 mm gauge freight only line runs from the Danube port at Galaţi (Romania) to the transhipment area of Giurgiuleşti (Moldova) and continues to Reni (Ukraine).
