This route is normally used by ''IC'' and ''ICE'' trains between Berlin and Rostock, which are not booked to call at Güstrow. ''RE5'' services run via Güstrow so do not use this route.

From 8 March, a two-hourly ''IC'' service operates daily between Dresden Hbf, Berlin Hbf and Rostock Hbf via this route. Northbound departures are at 58 minutes past each even hour from Waren (Müritz) between 08:58 and 20:58, and southbound trains are at 21 minutes past each odd hour from Rostock Hbf from 06:21 until 18:21, plus 20:23 FSX.

Additional long-distance ''IC'' and ''ICE'' services operate over this route, particularly in the summer months. These are shown in Table 205 Nord of the DB [http://kursbuch.bahn.de/hafas/kbview.exe Kursbuch].

The overnight trains between Malmö and Berlin mostly ran this way until 2019, although they occasionally reversed at Stralsund Hbf. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, they are not running at all in 2020. In 2021 they are planned to run via Padborg instead so this line will no longer see regular passenger use.
Now that overnight trains between Malmö and Berlin run via Padborg there is no regular passenger use of this curve.

The curve is used occasionally by excursions.  Look particularly for trips from Berlin to the [https://stoertebeker.de/ Störtebeker Festspiele], held on Rügen each year.

Until late August 2019, this branch was used to connect with the train-ferry to/from Trelleborg by the overnight trains which ran during the summer between Berlin Hbf and Malmö C.

Services in 2020 are cancelled entirely because of cross-border travel restrictions and uncertainty over ferry operations caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2021 the operator of the night trains, Snälltåget, plans to run them via Denmark and Hamburg instead, so this line has lost its passenger services.
The curve is used occasionally by diverted trains to and from Rügen when Stralsund Hbf is unavailable. It has also been used in the past by trips from Berlin to the Störtebeker Festspiele, held on Rügen throughout the summer each year, but in 2023 their [https://stoertebeker.de/anreise/ website] merely linked to regular services on the DB journey planner.

This entry will accordingly be deleted at the end of 2020.

===Kavelstorf - Rostock Seehafen===
This south to east route enables trains to run between the Schwerin or Neustrelitz lines and the Stralsund line without having to reverse at Rostock Hbf. There are separate connections from the Schwerin and Neustrelitz lines to Abzw Dalwitzhof Nordkopf.

Because of cancellations and retimings of the Sassnitz to Trelleborg train ferry, this route, together with the Rostock to Trelleborg ferry, was planned to be used as an alternative in 2020 for the night services between Malmö and Berlin.
The route to and from the Schwerin line is used by diverted ''IC/ICE'' services between Hamburg and Stralsund. This last occurred in September 2023 when all ''IC/ICE'' services on this route did not call at Rostock Hbf.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, all trains between Malmö and Berlin in 2020 have now been cancelled. In 2021 they are planned to operate via Denmark and Hamburg instead of using a train ferry.
Until 2022, it was also used by a pair of ''Urlaubs Express'' services between Lörrach Hbf and Ostseebad Binz. However since then, these services have only run between Lörrach and Hamburg-Altona.

Therefore this route did not see passenger services at all in 2020 and this entry will accordingly be deleted at the end of the year.
The route to and from the Neustrelitz line is occasionally used by diverted ''IC/ICE'' services between Berlin and Stralsund. This occurs on the weekends of 16/17 and 23/24 March 2024. Note that ''RE3'' and ''RE5'' services are unaffected and continue to run via Neubrandenburg and Prenzlau respectively.

[205 Nord] (ERA-E 44B3; ERA-R 85C1; S+W 15B3-15C3) DE24/101

This route is used by IC trains between Berlin and Rostock, which are not booked to call at Güstrow. These generally run every two hours. RE5 services run via Güstrow so do not use this route.

[190] (ERA-E 44C4; ERA-R 86B3; S+W 6A1) DE24/102

This east to south curve is used by trains between the island of Rügen and the Pasewalk or Neubrandenburg lines, if not booked to call at Stralsund Hbf.

Now that overnight trains between Malmö and Berlin run via Padborg there is no regular passenger use of this curve.

The curve is used occasionally by diverted trains to and from Rügen when Stralsund Hbf is unavailable. It has also been used in the past by trips from Berlin to the Störtebeker Festspiele, held on Rügen throughout the summer each year, but in 2023 their website merely linked to regular services on the DB journey planner.

Papendorf / Kavelstorf (Abzw Dalwitzhof) – Rostock-Kassebohm (Abzw Rostock Warnowbrücke West)

[100] (S+W 123 B3) DE24/103

This south to east route enables trains to run between the Schwerin or Neustrelitz lines and the Stralsund line without having to reverse at Rostock Hbf. There are separate connections from the Schwerin and Neustrelitz lines to Abzw Dalwitzhof Nordkopf.

The route to and from the Schwerin line is used by diverted IC/ICE services between Hamburg and Stralsund. This last occurred in September 2023 when all IC/ICE services on this route did not call at Rostock Hbf.

Until 2022, it was also used by a pair of Urlaubs Express services between Lörrach Hbf and Ostseebad Binz. However since then, these services have only run between Lörrach and Hamburg-Altona.

The route to and from the Neustrelitz line is occasionally used by diverted IC/ICE services between Berlin and Stralsund. This occurs on the weekends of 16/17 and 23/24 March 2024. Note that RE3 and RE5 services are unaffected and continue to run via Neubrandenburg and Prenzlau respectively.
