Obscure services

Grimmenthal – Ritschenhausen

[570, 815] (52A3, 79C1) DE14/551

This line is used by trains between Erfurt Hbf and Schweinfurt Hbf, to avoid reversal at Meiningen. These run every two hours.

Grimmenthal: connections at west and east ends of station

[570] (52A3, 79D1) DE14/552

Just west of Grimmenthal station, the Meiningen – Themar line crosses over the Schweinfurt – Suhl line, each route having its own platforms at Grimmenthal. To enable through running between Meiningen and Suhl, there are connecting spurs at both west and east ends of the station. In general, the western spur is used by trains from Meiningen to Zella-Mehlis or Erfurt and those from Erfurt or Zella-Mehlis to Meiningen use the eastern spur.
