Introduction

This list is based on the 2013 timetable, unless otherwise stated. Standard abbreviations are explained in General Information.

Obscure services

Services on the Peloponnese peninsula

Most, if not all, of the metre gauge services on the Peloponnese peninsula were withdrawn during the financial crisis in 2010. However the following routes do currently carry a service:-

After running a number of successful enthusiast trips over other parts of the metre gauge network in 2012 and 2013, TrainOSE are looking to operate more such trips. Details may be available under the Latest News section of the TrainOSE website (only in Greek). Currently advertised is a trip on 3 - 6 May 2013 which is planned to run from Korinthos via the Napflio branch to Kalamata, then via the Olympia branch to Patra.

Other sparse services

The following lines have few trains (relative to service levels generally) - fewer than five trains each way on at least three days a week - or do not run each weekday.

  • Thessaloniki – Idomeni – Gevgelija (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia). Following withdrawal of the service a weekly summer-only service was reintroduced by MŽ from 14 July 2012, reportedly running until 30 September 2012. It is not known if this will occur again in 2013. No service as at April 2013.
  • Thessaloniki – Alexandroupolis – Dikaia
  • Edessa – Florina
  • Palaeofarsalos – Kalambaka
  • Diakopto – Kalavryta
