Introduction

This list is based on timetable information issued with effect from 11 December 2016. Standard abbreviations used are explained in General Information. For details of recent history, please refer to Kaliningrad Oblast General Information.

Map references for each route entry are given in parentheses ( ). References prefixed "ERA" refer to the European Railway Atlas Baltic States, Belarus & Ukraine, Regional Series 2016, by M.G.Ball.

Obscure services

[Braniewo PKP] – Mamonovo – Kaliningrad

Broad and standard gauge tracks run parallel from Poland until just north of Golubevo and then take totally different routes into Kaliningrad. The standard gauge line heads east with an interlaced Broad gauge freight only track to join the line in from Bagrationovsk near the closed station named simply 6km to enter Kaliningrad South station from the east, whereas the Broad gauge passenger service runs via and calls at Kaliningrad Kievskaya to arrive into Kaliningrad South station from the west. The daily standard gauge service between Gdansk and Kaliningrad was discontinued in 2012 although occasional charters from Germany still run.

Kaliningrad Passazersky south to north avoiding line: Kaliningrad Kievskaya – Kaliningrad Severniy

Shuttle service believed to have been introduced in November 2015 from a station on the Mamonowo line running direct to Kaliningrad Severniy or beyond avoiding Kaliningrad Passazersky. Departure times were revised from 9 January 2017 to be departures from Kaliningrad Kievskaya/О.п Киевская SSuX at 07:26, 08:33, 16:45, 18:12 & 19:15 and from Kaliningrad Severniy/Калининград Северный SSuX at 07:44, 09:04, 17:30 & 18:40

Kaliningrad Passazersky west to north avoiding line: Zapadnij Noviy – Kaliningrad Severniy

This curve allows trains from the Baltiysk line to avoid Kaliningrad Passazersky and proceed directly to Kaliningrad Severniy. One train towards Kaliningrad SSuX service was travelling via this curve in July 2013, but no service since at least the PDF dated 1 October 2016

Kaliningrad Severniy High level platforms

Most services are through to/from Kaliningrad Passazersky and call at a single track platform at a lower level on the east side of Terminal platforms. The following use a different approach route and terminate/start from the High level platforms.

(Kaliningrad – Primorsk Noviyy –) 39 Km – Baltiysk

Baltiysk is the base of the Russian Baltic Fleet and became a closed town after WWII: access was forbidden to foreigners or those without a permit. Access is still in principle only available to those with a permit with checks at a platform named 39 Km, about 8 km north of Baltiysk. As advised by a Guide in a July 2013 visit, the public was able to visit Baltiysk without a permit once a year on Navy Day, the last Sunday in July, considerably boosting the as at November 2016 service of one pair a day. In 2013, Navy Day fell on 28 July and the following trains were booked:
