===Vännäs - Umeå (including north and south chords at Vännäs)===

Revision as of 21:51, 14 March 2013

Introduction

This list is based on the timetable dated from 9 December 2012 – 14 December 2013 (Graphical timetable TRV T13) and the public timetables (available from www.resplus.se during the validity of the graphical timetable) unless otherwise shown. It is recommended that the instructions in Sweden - General Information are followed for details on how to obtain relevant timetables. Standard abbreviations used are explained in General Information. document.

The map references - prefixed by 'ERA1' - refer to the European Railway Atlas 2008 (M.G.Ball; published by European Railway Atlas); those prefixed 'ERA2' refer to the more detailed version which is to be released.

Obscure services

Ånge – Bräcke (Moradal) (via Ångebyn)

[20/40/41/42/44] (14B3 not shown; ERA1 5C4 not shown; ERA2 4A1) SE13/1

Available as an alternative to the north line, which is single track between Ånge station and Moradal. When trains are scheduled to cross within 6/7 minutes of Ånge, one would use this route - subject to punctual running of both trains.

D{1} 71/77 Storlien – 23:33 Bräcke – Göteborg C

Note: {1}: See public timetables 20/40/41/42/44 for information on operating dates and exceptions.

Stockholm Syd Flemingsberg – Järna (Järna Jn.)

[60/61/80/81/114/115] (23B1; ERA1 1A4; ERA2 9B2 or 11A1-11A2) SE13/2

Main line trains use the new (1995) Grödinge line, while local services use the former main line between these points. Trains for the Eskilstuna line also use the Grödinge line, between Stockholm and Södertälje Syd.

Mora (Morastrand) – Oxberg

(14A2; ERA1 5B3-5C3; ERA2 8C4) SE13/3

This line has no regular passenger service but in recent years a special train has run between Mora and Oxberg in conjunction with a skiing event (see www.vasaloppet.se or www.sjevent.se) on or near the last weekend in February.

Gävle Central – Gävle Sveriges Järnvägsmuseum

(15A1 not shown; ERA1 6A2; ERA2 9B3) SE13/4

A short electrified branch provides access to the railway museum. Working involves reversal at Gävle C for trains from the south, then a shunt move to/from museum. When specials from Stockholm and Uppsala operate, normally on two weekends in the autumn, details should be available on the website www.jarnvagsmuseum.se when known. Look for headline "Årgångståget".

Järna – Norrköping (Åby)

[81] (22B2 and 23A2; ERA1 1A4 and 5C1; ERA2 9A1-9B1) SE13/5

Trains between Stockholm and Norrköping with no booked stops between Södertälje Syd and Norrköping usually run via Katrineholm. This is faster than the shorter route through Nyköping and is also double track throughout.

Grängesberg – Ställdalen (via Silverhöjden)

[53, 75] (22A1; ERA1 5C2; ERA2 9A2-9A3) SE13/6

The former TGOJ line, which parallels the normal ex-BJ line, is available as an extended passing loop. It still has CTC, but the maximum speed is reduced. It can be used to avoid delays when crossing another train, subject to punctual running of both trains. Routing may be altered for operational convenience.

D{2} SuX 8152 Hallsberg – 08:04 Ställdalen – Falun C /Borlänge C
D{2} SuX 7568 Mjölby – 11:05 Grängesberg – Gävle C
D{2} SSuX 8157 Borlänge C – 13:58 Grängesberg – Örebro C
D{1} SO 8103 Borlänge C – 15:00 Grängesberg – Kristinehamn
D{1} WThFO 8110/8112 Göteborg C – 18:43 Grängesberg – Falun C
D{2} SX 7579 Gävle C – 20:42 Grängesberg – Hallsberg

Notes: {1}: See public timetable 75 for exceptions; {2}: See public timetable 53 for exceptions.

Visit website www.gbbj.nu nearer the time for details. Note: Nyköping Södra is almost opposite the bus station.

In conjunction with this, the empty stock is moved from Grängesberg museum on the Friday and returns on the Sunday, using the following freight lines: Lindesberg (Frövi north jn.) – Valskog (Jädersbruk jn.), Mellösa (Flens övre jn.) – Nyköping – Oxelösund and route SE13/6. GBBJ have been prepared to carry passengers by prior arrangement - contact the Society well in advance, using this e-mail address.

Öre Älv (Vännäs)– Oxmyran (Mellansel) (via Nyåker)

(7B2 not shown; ERA1 6B1 not shown; ERA2 4B2) SE13/11

The use of this route is planned to avoid time-consuming crossings. Routing can be changed for operational convenience. No passenger train is currently scheduled to use this route on a regular basis. When regular night trains cease to operate Bräcke - Långsele - Vännäs, this item will be removed.

Hallsberg – Skymossen jn (– Motala – Mjölby)

[53] (22A2; ERA1 5C1; ERA2 9A1) SE13/15

All passenger trains are booked to use this eastern route except the following, which is booked to use the western route via the yard:

SSuO 7566 Mjölby – 06:14 Motala – Gävle C

Degerfors (Laxå North Jn) – Laxå / Hallsberg

[Umeå C – Umeå Ö -] Örnsköldvik – Mellansel

[40] (7B1; ERA1 6B5; ERA2 4B2) SE13/17

SJ Night trains 93/94 operate Vännäs - Mellansel - Ånge 9 December - 8 June 2013 using the direct route. The last day of passenger operation on Örnsköldsvik - Mellansel is 8 December 2012.

Malmö Area

[102,103,107] (25A2 not shown; ERA1 8A3 or 41B3; ERA2 12C2 or 13B2-13C2) SE13/18

Clarification of track usage in the Malmö Area:

  • Malmö C – Ystad trains operate Malmö C – Hyllie – Svågertorp – Lockarp West Jn – Lockarp East Jn – Ystad, except trains (one train in each direction FSX) listed in table 107 not to call between Malmö C and Oxie. These trains are routed Lockarp East Jn – Lockarp North Jn – Malmö C to facilitate single line working between Malmö C and Hyllie for scheduled maintenance.
FSX 11578 Simrishamn – 23:05 Oxie – Helsingborg C
FSX 11579 Helsingborg C – 23:44 Malmö C – Ystad
  • Malmö C – Trelleborg trains Malmö C – Fosieby – Lockarp North Jn – Lockarp South Jn – Trelleborg (see SE12/7 above).
  • København H – Ystad trains (Swedish timetable 103) operate Lernacken – Svågertorp – Lockarp West Jn – Lockarp East Jn – Ystad. No other scheduled passenger trains use Lernacken – Svågertorp. This leaves Svågertorp (Lockarp West) – Fosieby (Lockarp North) without passenger traffic until the "Malmö circle” starts, when some trains currently terminating at Hyllie would continue via this curve and restore more regular passenger service to the line thence via Östervärn to/from the terminal section of Malmö C. The date is not yet confirmed, as at least one new station close to the Rosengård area is to be built. However if you see a SJ Snabbtåg SJ2000 (previously X2000) bound for København H arrive at the terminal section of Malmö C in reverse order, it will most likely be routed via Fosieby – Svågertorp, to have the planned order when arriving in Denmark.
  • No passenger trains are planned to use Lockarp West Jn – Lockarp South Jn until some commuter trains are extended from Hyllie to Trelleborg, probably in 2015. This chord is now completed and can be used and has also been used for engineering diversions of Malmö – Berlin trains.

Uddevalla – Öxnered avoiding line – Göteborg

[130] (21A2 not shown; ERA1 5A1; ERA2 12B5) SE13/19 For the first time there are service trains using the Öxnered avoiding line, Uddevalla - Öxnered West Jn - Öxnered South Jn - Trollhättan - Göteborg. Trains in public timetable 130 shown without any intermediate calls between Uddevalla and Göteborg are using this chord and instead calling at Trollhättan and Älvängen.

Mariefred - Mariefreds Ångbåtsstation (Östra Södermanlands Järnväg)

(22B2, ERA1 1A5 not shown, ERA2 9B2 not shown) SE13/20

This is a short extension of the 600mm gauge tourist line from the main station in Mariefred to the jetty used by the steamship from Stockholm. On certain days one train continues to and starts from Mariefreds Ångbåtsstation, which is claimed to be the only remaining place in the world where there is direct interchange between a steam train and a steam ship.

D P8 Läggesta nedre – 13:20 Mariefred - Mariefreds Ångbåtsstation
D P11 13:40 Mariefreds Ångbåtsstation - Läggesta nedre

See www.oslj.nu for dates of operation. Note that the train does not run to Mariefreds Ångbåtsstation every day that the steamship operates.

Deletions since previous edition

There is no longer a printed timetable, and the highest timetable number it is possible to download from Resplus is currently 133. Hence, all tourist lines (except Östersund - Gällivare) have been removed from the Sparse section. In addition the following obscure services have been removed:

  • SE12/16: Ockelbo - Storvik. No passenger service for years.
  • SE12/19: Åstorp - Kattarp. No passenger service for years.
