[E] Recent modernisation work including electrification has been undertaken: freight services resumed on 29 July 2022, and a passenger service of five daily train pairs between Szeged and Subotica resumed on Tuesday 28 November 2023, worked by both MAV and ŽS.

The Hungarian Prime Minister has agreed to sign a contract with Serbia concerning the rebuilding of this line as part of an international project to recreate a rail link between Rijeka (Croatia) and Constanta (Romania). However, any actual work depends on European funding.
