On 19 and 20 March 2022, this curve is used by ''RE3'' services between Berlin and Stralsund via Greifswald, and ''RE5'' between Grimmen and Stralsund, calling at Stralsund Rügendamm instead of Stralsund Hbf. Note that because of long-term engineering work, ''RE5'' services are only running to and from Grimmen, with bus replacement between there and Neubrandenburg. The two-hourly ''ICE'' services between Berlin and Ostseebad Binz are also diverted over this curve, not calling at Stralsund Hbf.

Obscure services

Waren (Müritz) (Lalendorf Ost) – Plaaz

[205 Nord] (ERA-E 44B3; ERA-R 85C1; S+W 15B3-15C3) DE22/101

This route is used by IC trains between Berlin and Rostock, which are not booked to call at Güstrow. RE5 services run via Güstrow so do not use this route.

A two-hourly IC service operates daily between Dresden Hbf, Berlin Hbf and Rostock Hbf or Warnemünde via this route. Northbound departures are at 59 minutes past each even hour from Waren (Müritz) between 06:59 and 20:59, and southbound trains are at 21 minutes past each even hour from Rostock Hbf from 06:21 until 18:21. Additional services are at 07:59 SuX from Waren (Müritz) (IC94 Wien Hbf – Rostock Hbf) and 20:21 SX from Rostock Hbf (IC95 Rostock Hbf – Wien Hbf).

Additional long-distance IC and ICE services operate over this route during the summer months. These are shown in the summer edition of Table 205 Nord of the DB Kursbuch.

Stralsund Rügendamm – Wüstenfelde (Abzw Srg)

[190] (ERA-E 44C4; ERA-R 86B3; S+W 6A1) DE22/102

This east to south curve is used by trains between the island of Rügen and the Pasewalk or Neubrandenburg lines, if not booked to call at Stralsund Hbf.

With the re-routeing of the overnight trains between Malmö and Berlin to run via Padborg there is no longer any regular passenger use of this curve.

The curve is used occasionally by excursions. Look particularly for trips from Berlin to the Störtebeker Festspiele, held on Rügen throughout the summer each year, although it is currently unclear whether the 2022 event will be going ahead.

On 19 and 20 March 2022, this curve is used by RE3 services between Berlin and Stralsund via Greifswald, and RE5 between Grimmen and Stralsund, calling at Stralsund Rügendamm instead of Stralsund Hbf. Note that because of long-term engineering work, RE5 services are only running to and from Grimmen, with bus replacement between there and Neubrandenburg. The two-hourly ICE services between Berlin and Ostseebad Binz are also diverted over this curve, not calling at Stralsund Hbf.

Papendorf (Dalwitzhof) – Rostock-Kassebohm (Abzw Rostock Warnowbrücke West)

[100] (S+W 123 B3) DE22/103

This south to east route enables trains to run between the Schwerin or Neustrelitz lines and the Stralsund line without having to reverse at Rostock Hbf. There are separate connections from the Schwerin and Neustrelitz lines to Abzw Dalwitzhof Nordkopf.

The route to and from the Schwerin line is used in July and August by a pair of Urlaubs Express services between Lörrach Hbf and Ostseebad Binz.

D1 FO UEX1878 Lörrach Hbf ARZ – 07:02 (SO) Hamburg Hbf – Ostseebad Binz
D2 SO UEX1879 Ostseebad Binz – 19:32 Rostock-Kassebohm – Lörrach Hbf ARZ

D1: 8 July to 26 August 2022

D2: 9 July to 27 August 2022

Note that DB and Interrail tickets are not valid on these services.

The route to and from the Neustrelitz line is used on Fridays to Sundays between 4 February and 5 March 2022 by diverted ICE services between Ostseeband Binz or Stralsund Hbf and Berlin or beyond, which run non-stop between Stralsund Hbf and Neustrelitz Hbf.
